Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about membership, DEXA scans, and how we work.
Getting Started
-
Direct primary care is an insurance-free, membership model of medical practice. For a low monthly membership fee, patients get most of their primary care services. As the DPC practices limit their patient panels, physicians spend more time with their patients and get to know them personally. We don’t bill or accept insurance, and the treatment decisions are made between the physician and the patient.
-
Yes, we advise that you maintain insurance to cover services not included in the membership fee (such as emergency/urgent care visits, hospitalisation, laboratory, radiology, speciality care, or other care from any outside providers).
Many patients find that with DPC, they can save by purchasing a high-deductible plan.

Membership and Insurance

-
You are enrolled on a month-to-month basis after your initial three-month term. There is no long-term contract, and you may cancel at any time.
-
One of the biggest advantages of Direct Primary Care is building a real relationship with your doctor while you are healthy, not just when something goes wrong. This makes it easier to catch early warning signs of metabolic disease and stay ahead of them, rather than reacting once a problem has already developed.
Care and Scans
-
Yes. DEXA body composition and bone density scans are available to non-members. No referral is required, and no membership commitment is needed to book one.
-
Yes. Coordinating with specialists and outside providers is an important part of comprehensive primary care, and we help guide you toward the most appropriate and cost-effective options when needed.
-
Direct Primary Care practices share the same basic model, but not the same focus. GS Metabolic Medicine is built specifically around metabolic health and disease prevention. Dr. Singh is an ISCD Certified Clinical Densitometrist, one of a small number of physicians in the Capital Region with this specialized credential, and every DEXA scan performed at the practice is interpreted directly by him, not a technician or outside radiologist.
Where many DPC practices offer general primary care, we combine that same unhurried, insurance-free model with a specific expertise in catching metabolic disease early, before it becomes diabetes, heart disease, or something worse.
